HandHoldly pricing plans explained: what Free, Standard and Plus include and what happens when an allowance runs out

If you are weighing up HandHoldly pricing plans, the useful questions are what each plan costs, what it actually limits, and what happens when you reach that limit. This post answers all three in the order you are likely to need them.

Free at £0, Standard at £19 a month or £190 a year, Plus at £49 a month or £490 a year

HandHoldly has three plans. Free costs £0. Standard costs £19 a month, or £190 a year. Plus costs £49 a month, or £490 a year. All prices are in pounds, and they are shown the same way on the pricing section of the site.

The annual option on Standard and Plus works out to a set amount per year rather than twelve monthly payments. Whichever billing period you choose, each plan comes with monthly allowances for the things it produces. The exact allowance figures for each plan are listed on the pricing section, so check there before you decide, as the detail is the part most likely to matter to your team.

One way to compare the plans is to start from the output you need. If you mainly want a step-by-step help article, the allowance for help articles is the figure to compare. If you want narrated video and a live guide as well, look at video minutes and live guide sessions too.

Walkthroughs have no cap on number, but video minutes, help articles and live guide sessions have monthly allowances

This is the detail that is easiest to misread, so it is worth being precise. The number of walkthroughs you can create is not capped. You can build as many scripts as your product needs.

What is limited is what those scripts produce each month. A single script can give you three things: a narrated product video, a live guided tour inside your web app, and a step-by-step help article. Each of those outputs draws on its own monthly allowance. Video minutes count against the video allowance. Each help article counts against the article allowance. Each live guide session counts against the live guide allowance.

In practice, this means you can keep a full library of scripts on any plan, and the monthly allowances decide how much new output you can generate in a given month. A team that updates a few walkthroughs a month will use very different amounts from a team that re-records its whole onboarding every quarter. The useful comparison is how often you expect to produce new content, not just how many walkthroughs you have.

It also helps to know that a translation counts as new output. If you translate a script into another language, the resulting video, article or guide draws on the same monthly allowances. When you change one sentence, only that line is re-voiced, which keeps the output needed for a small edit small.

When an allowance runs out new production pauses and nothing is billed automatically

This is the rule most people want to understand before they commit. When you reach the end of a monthly allowance, new production pauses. For example, if you have used your video minutes for the month, you cannot produce more video until the allowance renews. The same applies to help articles and live guide sessions.

Nothing is billed automatically when this happens. HandHoldly does not charge your card to carry on producing content beyond your allowance. If you want more output within the same month, you can buy a top-up. Top-ups are available alongside the plans, and you choose whether to buy one.

This gives you control over costs. If your team regularly reaches an allowance, you can decide whether to move to a higher plan, buy a top-up for a busy stretch, or wait for the next month. Checking usage early makes planning around the allowance easier than finding a pause on the day a release goes out.

Registered charities can request 50% off plans and top-ups from inside the app

Registered charities running a web service can request 50% off plans and top-ups. The request is made from inside the app. It is a request, so the discount is not applied automatically and it is not promised. Submitting one does not mean it will be granted, and approval is not immediate.

If your organisation is a registered charity, you can make the request from inside the app, where the full details are shown and you can see what happens next. The discount only applies once you have been told it does.

Access is invitation only for now

At the moment, access to HandHoldly is by invitation only. Pricing is shown on the site so you can see what each plan includes and costs, but it does not mean you can start on any plan you choose today. If you have not been invited, the plans above describe what is available and what it costs, not a route you can take right now.

If you want to see what a plan produces before you decide anything, the how-it-works section of the site is the place to look. It shows what one script turns into, from the narrated video to the live guide and the help article, so you can judge whether the allowances fit the way your team works. See how it works.
